How to · Your library
Linked servers
Play a friend's library through your own Sterio Server.
Needs Sterio Server 0.1.28 or later, on both servers. The server you link to has to be reachable over the internet.
Where to find it
- Sterio Server dashboard › Linked servers.
Linking shows another Sterio Server's library inside yours. Your apps stay connected to your own server, and the other library's music streams to them through it.
Link them
- 1On the server that shares its library (your friend's): Linked servers › Share this library with another server › Generate server key. The key works for 10 minutes, for one server, once.
- 2On your server: Linked servers › enter the Other server address, such as https://music.example.com, and the key, then Connect.
- 3Your server reads the other library's index. Its albums appear in your apps when that's done.
What you see
- Songs you already have are hidden, so nothing is doubled.
- Extra tracks of an album you have join that album. Covers and artist photos come along.
- A link works one way. To share yours back, link the other way with a key from your server.
Managing links
Each linked server shows how many of its tracks you see, with Refresh index and Remove. The sharing server lists who uses its library, with Stop sharing.
